格列佛遊記：小人國奇遇

Our ship encountered a violent tropical storm in the South Seas. Fierce waves battered the wooden hull until the vessel shattered against hidden rocks. I swam for hours through the raging sea, tossed by giant breakers, until my strength was nearly spent. Just when hope seemed lost, my feet touched shallow sand. I dragged myself onto the grassy shore of an unknown island and collapsed into a deep, exhausted sleep.

When I awoke the next morning, the bright sun was shining directly in my face. I attempted to rise, but to my utter astonishment, I could not move! My arms and legs were fastened securely to the ground by hundreds of slender cords. Even my long hair was tied down to wooden stakes. I felt something small and alive moving up my left leg toward my chin. Looking down as far as I could, I saw a tiny human figure—no taller than six inches—holding a miniature bow and arrow in his hands!

Over forty of these tiny warriors were climbing over my chest. In my surprise, I let out a tremendous roar. The miniature soldiers shrieked in terror and tumbled backward to the ground. When I struggled to loosen my left hand, they discharged a volley of hundreds of tiny arrows into the air. The needles pricked my skin like sharp pinpricks, so I decided it was wiser to lie quietly until they understood I meant no harm.

These little people were the citizens of Lilliput. Seeing that I remained peaceful, their emperor ordered five hundred carpenters to build an enormous wooden wagon with twenty-two wheels. Using nine hundred strong men and ropes, they hoisted me onto the wagon and hauled me to their capital city. There, I was housed in an ancient, abandoned stone temple—the only building in the entire empire large enough to hold a giant like me.

Over the following weeks, I learned the language of Lilliput and earned the friendship of the emperor. Thousands of citizens visited every day to marvel at the 'Man-Mountain.' It required three hundred cooks to prepare my meals, which consisted of hundreds of roasted chickens the size of flies and barrels of wine no bigger than thimbles.

However, as I observed their royal court, I grew troubled by their petty foolishness. The ministers and politicians did not gain high office through wisdom or virtue, but by dancing on tightropes before the emperor! Furthermore, Lilliput was locked in a bitter, bloody war with the neighboring island of Blefuscu over an absurd argument: whether boiled eggs should be broken at the big end or the small end.

When Blefuscu prepared a great invasion fleet of fifty warships, the emperor begged for my aid. I waded across the shallow channel, tied all fifty warships together with strong cables, and pulled the entire enemy fleet back to Lilliput in a single afternoon! Yet when the greedy emperor demanded that I conquer Blefuscu completely and enslave its people, I firmly refused, declaring that I would never make free people into slaves.

Realizing that small minds can harbor giant cruelties, I built a boat and sailed back to England with the help of kind friends. My time in Lilliput taught me a profound lesson: that true greatness is measured not by the physical size of a person's body, but by the generosity and justice of their spirit.
