Aladdin and the Magic Lamp

One afternoon, a wealthy stranger wearing dark, foreign robes approached Aladdin. The man claimed to be his long-lost uncle, but he was actually a cunning sorcerer from distant lands. The magician offered to make Aladdin rich if the boy would help him retrieve a small object from an ancient underground cavern.

They journeyed outside the city walls into a dry, rocky valley. The sorcerer muttered secret incantations and threw fragrant powder onto a fire. Suddenly, the ground trembled, and a heavy flat stone with a brass ring rose from the earth. 'Beneath this stone lies a hall of golden treasures,' the magician instructed. 'Touch nothing in the garden, but bring me the old brass oil lamp resting on the stone pedestal.' Before Aladdin descended the dark stone stairs, the magician placed a silver ring upon his finger for protection.

Aladdin walked through magnificent underground halls filled with trees bearing sparkling fruit of rubies, diamonds, and emeralds. He found the dusty old brass lamp on the pedestal, tucked it inside his shirt, and filled his pockets with colorful jewel fruits. But when he returned to the cave entrance, the suspicious magician demanded the lamp before helping Aladdin climb out.

Sensing danger, Aladdin refused: 'Help me up first, uncle, and I will hand you the lamp!' In a fit of rage, the sorcerer shouted a curse and sealed the stone shut, trapping Aladdin in pitch-black darkness underground.

For two days, Aladdin sat in despair. In his grief, he clasped his hands together to pray, accidentally rubbing the silver ring on his finger. Instantly, a towering spirit of smoke and light appeared, bowing low: 'I am the Genie of the Ring! What is your command, master?' Aladdin gasped in shock and cried: 'Bring me safely back to my mother's home!' In a flash, he found himself sitting in his humble living room.

Aladdin told his mother the entire strange tale. Seeing the dusty old lamp, his mother decided to clean it with a cloth so they could sell it for bread. The moment her cloth rubbed the brass surface, the room filled with thunder and blue smoke! A colossal, radiant Genie appeared, filling the room with his booming voice: 'I am the Genie of the Lamp! Speak your wish, and it shall be granted across the earth!'

With the gentle help of the loyal Genie, Aladdin and his mother escaped poverty. Yet Aladdin remained humble and generous, using his wealth to feed the hungry and build schools for poor children. When an evil vizier tried to overthrow the kingdom, Aladdin used his courage and quick wit—rather than mere magic—to save the city and win the heart of the Sultan's daughter. Aladdin's journey showed that true nobility is found not in magical treasures, but in an honest, generous heart.
